EDMOND — The big plays were few and far between.

But in the end, Edmond Memorial came out with the win.

Edmond Memorial took down rival Edmond North 10-7 on Thursday night at the brand-new Huskies Stadium.

Costly mistakes put Edmond North in a hole early.

On the first drive of the game, Edmond North quarterback Colby Entwistle was intercepted by Memorial senior defensive back Dakari Charlton.

Edmond Memorial failed to put anything together on its first drive, but kept Edmond North backed up inside its own 20.

On the first play of Edmond North's second series, Entwistle was sacked and had the ball stripped by two Memorial defenders.

The North defense held strong and Edmond Memorial settled for a 35-yard field goal by Jamie Buchli for the first points of the night.

That would be the only points of the first half as both teams defenses held each other to less than 50 total yards of offense.

After halftime, Memorial found a rhythm by feeding running back Nate Williams, who finished with 68 yards rushing on 20 carries.

Then late in the third quarter, Charlton made his impact felt on offense when he took a sweep, cut right and found a lane outside, sprinting 37 yards for a touchdown to make it 10-0.

A late fourth-quarter score from North when Entwistle connected with Eythan Graham for a 40-yard touchdown would prove to be the Huskies only points of the night.

Edmond Memorial finished with 128 yards rushing, and quarterback Trace Evans threw for 82 yards. The Bulldog defense held Edmond North to negative yards rushing on the night.

This was the first win of the season for Edmond Memorial and the first win under first-year head coach Luke Orvis.
