EDMOND - Max Myers has earned quite the reputation during his swimming career at Edmond Memorial.
"Each time he gets up on the block, you know what you're going to get." Edmond Public Schools Coach Heather DeVoe said.
Myers, a junior, has been one of the fastest swimmers in the state this season. With the west regional set for Feb 7-8 at the Edmond Aquatics Center, Myers is expected to advance and make a run for a 6A state title.
Myers competes in several events, but is known for being an elite sprinter, excelling in the 50-, 100- and 200- yard freestyle.
Myers, who placed 2nd in the 100 freestyle (46.37 seconds) at the state meet last season, has impressed DeVoe since he began high school.
"He showed us right away his potential." she said. "He's a hard worker in the water, and he works just as hard out of the water."

"If you need something done in general, Max is a good kid to go to." DeVoe said.
Myers won the 50 freestyle and too second in the 100 freestyle at the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference meet in Edmond on Jan. 18.
Myers knows there are a lot of talented swimmers in the state. He doesn't want to provide bulletin-board material for his competitors, but he feels confident heading into regionals.
