Last season, a chance to win the prestigious Tournament of Champions title slipped away in the final minutes for Muldrow.

Saturday night, the Lady Bulldogs made sure a repeat scenario didn’t take place.

Trailing by two entering the fourth quarter, Muldrow took charge and was able to seize the lead against the top-ranked team in 6A, Edmond Memorial. Muldrow went on to claim the ToC title with a 52-43 win.

The Lady Bulldogs (9-0), the top-ranked team in 4A, knocked off two No. 1 ranked teams en route to the ToC title after falling short in last season’s title game against 6A Owasso. Muldrow also beat 3A No. 1 Sequoyah-Tahlequah in Friday’s semifinals.

On Saturday, Muldrow led at halftime 25-21 before trailing Memorial 36-34 through three quarters. But the Lady Bulldogs surged to take a 42-41 advantage midway through the fourth and then reeled off eight of the next 10 points to extend their lead to seven, 50-43, with 45 seconds left.

The Lady Bulldogs also shot 67 percent from the field (18-of-27) for the game and 80 percent from the line (12-of-15). Muldrow held Memorial to 27 percent shooting for the entire game (13-of-48).

Senior guard Hannah Boyett, a UAFS signee, led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points, 12 of those coming in the second half. She also went 3-of-5 from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range, and made all six of her free-throw attempts in the final 1:49 of play.

Madison Chambers, a fellow senior, made all four of her field-goal attempts and all three of her free-throw attempts to finish with 11 points. The Oklahoma Baptist signee also dished out five assists.

Despite getting in early foul trouble, junior forward Taylen Collins was able to score six of her eight points in the second half on 4-of-8 shooting. She also grabbed six rebounds, made two steals and blocked two shots.

Muldrow also got contributions from Chalynn Mayes, who hit all three of her field-goal attempts and scored all seven of her points in the first half. Chelsi Possage had six assists and two boards as well.
