The Edmond Memorial girls held off the Edmond Santa Fe comeback in a 53-43 Edlam win.

Leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs were seniors Taylor Norman and Erin Talbott, who each finished the game with 16 points. Keira Neal led the Lady Wolves with 15, and Kaylee Nero made it to double digits as well, scoring 10.

After a close first quarter, Memorial outscored the Wolves 13-5 in the second, behind an eight point quarter from Norman.

At the half, Memorial led 25-17, but things got much more interesting in the second half of the ballgame.

A Talbott 3-pointer midway through the third quarter gave the Lady Bulldogs their largest lead of the game at 35-20. It seemed the game was out of reach for the Lady Wolves. But, after junior Ahoneste Walker answered Talbott’s 3 with her own, and Santa Fe scored another transition bucket.

After trailing 39-28, Santa Fe scored nine straight points, starting with a Kryslyn Jones 3-pointer and ending with Jones nailing two free-throws to make it a one possession game with just over five minutes left.

Memorial would answer Santa Fe’s run with one of their own, though, ending the game on a 12-2 run to snuff out the Lady Wolves comeback.
