Boys basketball
Gage Porter, Jr., Bethel: For the second straight season, Porter was clutch in upsetting Dale. Last Tuesday, Porter scored 27 points and hit eight 3-pointers to knock off Class 2A top-ranked Dale 73-70. Last year, he hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to knock off the Pirates, as well. Bethel went 3-1 last week, including a 2-1 mark in the Chouteau Tournament. Porter hit 16 treys last week and shot 48.5% from distance. He averaged 16.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals in the four games.
Girls basketball
Tirzah Moore, Sr., Jones: The Oral Roberts signee was the leader of a dominant Class 3A No. 2 Jones team last week. The Longhorns took down No. 8 Millwood and then Lindsay and Locust Grove in the Jones Kiwanis Invitational before knocking off Perkins-Tryon. Jones won all four games by at least 20 points, and the senior forward had a lot to do with it. Moore averaged 15 points, three blocks and three steals per game. Jones is looking to not have slowed down after its record-setting season last year, as the team made the state tournament for the first time. The Longhorns are off to a 7-1 start this season.
Boys swimming
Ryan Harris, Sr., Edmond Santa Fe: He had a pair of excellent performances at the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference meet Saturday in Edmond. Harris won the 100-yard backstroke in 54.65 — more than five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher — and placed third in the 100 butterfly (53.13). He also helped the Wolves place second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:42.29).
Girls swimming
Emma Smith, Jr., Edmond Memorial: She won the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 15.45 seconds) at the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference meet Saturday in Edmond. She also placed third in the 100 freestyle (56.03) and was a member of the Bulldogs’ relay team that won the 200 freestyle (1:44.27) and placed second in the 200 medley (1:55.36). Smith’s performances helped Edmond Memorial earn a runner-up finish.
Wrestling
Harley Andrews, Jr., Tuttle: He won the 220-pound title at the Greg Henning Invitational last weekend in Tuttle. The Nebraska commit pinned Blanchard’s Colin Deaton in the championship match and helped Tuttle win the team title.
